Clinic for Neonatology

"Optimal medical care at the start of your child's life is the central element of our work. We are there for you around the clock with our expertise." Prof. Dr Vera Bernet, Head of the Neonatology Clinic

In neonatology, we care for premature babies from the 32nd week of pregnancy as well as newborns who require special medical attention. Our ward offers ten care places, which are occupied by isolettes, open care units or heated beds. In addition to our wide range of services, we offer parents counselling for problem pregnancies and carry out ultrasound examinations of all organs as well as non-invasive ventilation of newborn babies. We work closely with the obstetrics team and are located directly next to the delivery room. This increases safety in the care of newborns and premature babies.

Level IIB neonatology

The Swiss Society of Neonatology (SGN) certified our neonatology department as a level IIB clinic in 2015. This means that we fulfil specific standards in terms of skills, staff and infrastructure. These include, in particular, the non-invasive ventilation of newborns and a neonatology on-call service available around the clock.

Education and exchange on World Premature Baby Day

To mark World Premature Baby Day 2025 on Monday, 17 November 2025, our neonatology clinic at Zollikerberg Hospital organised an information stand from 9 am to 4 pm to raise awareness of the special needs of premature babies. Parents and numerous other interested parties took the opportunity to obtain information, ask questions and find out more about the care of premature babies. The great interest and the many encounters showed us how important information and dialogue are for families with premature babies. A special thank you to everyone who came along, actively helped and organised the day with us.

I'm sorry, I can't tell who or what is in this picture.
