Zollikerberg Hospital with high patient volumes and significant cost pressure

Media release from 4 April 2024

In 2023, Zollikerberg Hospital once again recorded a high number of patients. 11,565 patients were treated as inpatients, which corresponds to an increase of 1.2 per cent compared to 2022 (11,430). Growth of 1.6 per cent was also achieved in the outpatient area with 64,540 patients treated (2022: 63,530). Income fell by CHF 2.3 million compared to 2022, whereby this decline is due to the retrospective increase in the flat rate per case, which was taken into account retroactively for 2020, 2021 and 2022 in the annual financial statements for 2022. Viewed in isolation, income increased by CHF 1.7 million. Operating expenses rose by CHF 9.6 million in the same period, including CHF 8.1 million in personnel costs.
