Transplant consultation

In the transplant consultation at Zollikerberg Hospital, we assess patients with chronic kidney failure with regard to a possible kidney transplant. The assessment includes an evaluation of medical suitability for a kidney transplant and the individual requirements for the procedure.

If suitable conditions are met, we examine the possibility of a kidney donation through a living donation. Potential donors are medically assessed and counselled as part of a structured and comprehensive clarification process.

The kidney transplant itself and the close monitoring in the first year after the transplant take place in a specialised transplant centre, for example at Zurich University Hospital, St. Gallen Cantonal Hospital or in another transplant centre in Switzerland by individual arrangement.

From the second year after a kidney transplant, we provide long-term follow-up care at Zollikerberg Hospital. Care is provided in close cooperation with the responsible transplant centre in order to ensure continuous and optimal care after kidney transplantation
