During a detailed consultation, we will explain the entire procedure to you and clarify any questions you may have. Please refrain from smoking for a fortnight before the operation and from taking painkillers, which can affect blood clotting.

We perform the breast lift under a short general anaesthetic. Firstly, we remove excess skin, reshape the breast and reposition the nipples. We often also slightly reduce the size of the areola. Drains are usually not necessary. Finally, we apply a suitable bra to minimise swelling.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Your breasts will be tight for a few days after the procedure. Pain can be easily treated with normal painkillers. You will be given a special bra to support your breasts during this time. The stitches will dissolve by themselves. Initially, the scars will be firm and slightly reddened. However, you will be able to resume lighter activities after just a few days. The swelling can last between four and eight weeks, during which time your breasts are often sensitive. After about three months, your breasts will take on their final shape and size. The scars usually fade after about six months.

Acute complications are extremely rare. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks such as bleeding, infection or wound healing disorders. Occasionally, hypersensitivity or numbness of the nipples may occur. These changes usually disappear over time, but may remain permanent in a few patients. It is possible that the ability to breastfeed is occasionally impaired. We will clarify all the details in a detailed consultation.
