Breastfeeding is a valuable experience that requires time, patience and support for both mother and child. Our certified breastfeeding counsellors will guide you through this learning process, from pregnancy through the postpartum period to the later breastfeeding phase. Whether you have questions, challenges or simply need additional support, we are here to help you with our expertise and commitment. Our breastfeeding counselling service is not only aimed at women who have given birth at Zollikerberg Hospital, but also at all other mothers who are looking for professional support with breastfeeding.
The breastfeeding counselling services
Our outpatient breastfeeding counselling sessions take place from Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 16.00.
Already during pregnancy

- Obtaining colostrum (colostrum)
- Breastfeeding after breast surgery
- Individual counselling on various topics during pregnancy
Support beyond your hospital stay
Even after your discharge, we won't leave you alone. Our outpatient breastfeeding counselling service offers you the opportunity to continue to receive support from our breastfeeding counsellors - by telephone or at a personal appointment.

Competent breastfeeding support during your stay
From the very first hours after the birth, we provide you with empathetic support when breastfeeding your baby and help you with personalised breastfeeding techniques. Our specialists will help you to find a comfortable breastfeeding position and overcome typical initial difficulties.
We will give you comprehensive advice on:
- Breastfeeding positions and latch-on techniques for pain-free and effective breastfeeding
- Recognising your baby's signs of hunger
- Prevention and treatment of milk stasis, sore nipples or breast inflammation
- Promotion of sufficient milk production
- Low-laser therapy (red light laser) to promote wound healing and pain relief
- Breastfeeding premature babies or twins
- Breastfeeding with insufficient weight gain of the newborn

Alternative feeding methods, your decision counts
If you decide not to breastfeed or it is not possible for medical reasons, we will support you with customised solutions. We will advise you on suitable alternatives such as bottle feeding and pre-nutrition so that your baby receives the best possible care.

Costs
Outpatient consultations are covered by basic insurance. Low-laser therapy sessions are charged at a flat rate of CHF 25.00.
