The central sterile goods preparation and supply department (AEMP) was successfully certified in accordance with ISO 13485:2012 in November 2013. This certification allows the AEMP to fulfil external orders. The quality of the processes was confirmed during recertification in 2022. However, the intention behind such a quality management system is not just to obtain a certificate. Rather, certification certifies that there are no deviations from standards in the reprocessing of sterile goods and that the organisational unit and work processes meet the highest quality standards.

In recent years, 25 contracts have been concluded with third parties who utilise the excellent service provided by the AEMP.

The quality of the certified processes and work instructions, the modern infrastructure, the computerised documentation of the entire reprocessing process, the maintenance records and the high level of qualification of the AEMP staff continuously meet the requirements of the ISO standard and are verified annually with internal and external monitoring audits as well as regular recertification audits.

With the aim of maintaining the high and practicable quality of medical care for the benefit and safety of patients in the coming years, the entire AEMP team, led by Petra Wyss, is currently preparing for recertification in accordance with the latest ISO standard for sterile processing.
