Quality development
For us at Zollikerberg Hospital, quality development means reflecting on our own services, defining new processes, critically scrutinising existing ones, seeking challenging answers and exploring new avenues. In this way, we continuously raise the quality of patient care to a higher level and create space for innovation.

Quality Medicine Initiative (IQM)
Routine data, transparency, peer review - for the best possible quality of medical treatment
In the Quality Medicine Initiative (IQM), hospitals from Switzerland and Germany are committed to improving medical quality in the treatment of their patients. The aim of the Quality Medicine Initiative is to make potential for improvement in the quality of medical treatment visible and to promote active error management. We have been a member of the Quality Medicine Initiative since 2017.
As a member, we voluntarily participate in various activities:
- Quality measurement on the basis of routine data
- Transparency of results through their publication
- Quality improvements through peer reviews
What is a peer review? In a peer review, the hospital is visited by chief physicians and nursing staff from other hospitals. A self-assessment and external assessment of the treatment processes is carried out on site using selected cases. Possible potential for improvement in processes, structures and interfaces are examined and discussed in a collegial dialogue between head physicians and nursing staff from the clinic and the peer team. Further development goals are derived from this dialogue.
Lean bed ward pilot project
We are using the Lean Ward pilot project to gain initial experience with the Lean Hospital management philosophy and its tools in the inpatient area. Our aim is to optimise patient orientation and patient safety in all processes.
